Directions to the BBQ site – Saturday 5/5/2018

This Saturday, May 5th is the picnic and meeting. The BBQ starts at noon, please bring a side dish or dessert to share, your own chairs, sunscreen and insect repellent. Sunday, May 6th is a project work day. Here are driving directions to the site from Kathy Degonia:

Good Morning, On Friday Melissa and I visited the BBQ site and now have specific directions to relay. Hope to see you all at the BBQ, it will be tons of fun! Beware it is tick season so bring your tick repellent.

Starting at the Kum and Go in Meeker corner of highway 13 and 64, take highway 64 towards Rangely for approx 22 miles to County Rd 5 (Piceance Creek) turn Left, proceed about 18 miles on County Rd 5 (do not turn at county road 20) and turn Right on County Rd 24 , Proceed approx 10 miles to County Rd 91 turn Left, go past well pad and corrals are on your Rt. ( There will be signs posted along the route)

If you are coming from Rifle take Highway 13 North towards Meeker for approx 19 miles to County Rd 5 (Piceance Creek) turn Left onto County Rd 5, proceed 25.5 miles to County Road 24 turn Left, proceed approx 10 miles to County Rd 91, turn Left and proceed past well pad corrals will be on your Rt. (There will be signs along the route)

Please bring a side dish for the BBQ on Saturday, BLM will be providing burgers and hot dogs, Piceance Mustangs will be providing drinks. We will have a meeting and tours available.

Sunday will be a work day and we will be putting up fence so if you have fencing tools please bring them. Sturdy shoes, sun screen, gloves and bug repellent are also recommended.   1. Thanks for the information about your group and mission.. I adopted a wonderful Piceance/ East Douglas mare #11260087 in the fall of 2016 from Canyon City. She is now 7 years old, dark brown with a heart and crooked blaze on her head. I named her Time to Shine. She is a joy.

    I am unable to come this weekend because of previous engagement but perhaps can in the future. I live in Tabernash, CO. on a small farm. I am not sure how much I could help as I have animals and live alone. I was in Meeker in April 2014 and asked at the BLM about seeing the wild horses. I was discouraged from visiting them because of the condition of the roads. I went on south and visited the Spring Creek HMA.
